@cawbee Headcanons for amputee!Izuku post One for All, retired and living with his husband Shouto.
-he lost part of his left arm, just under the shoulder, and his right leg above the knee in his final battle as a hero.
-Hatsume Mei made his prosthetics and they are awesome
-Waterproof, but Mei gets snippy with him if he goes into the ocean and doesn’t wash it off immediately because salt is terrible for the joints
-Izuku has passed on One for All, and Shouto helped him train the next holder.
-Izuku is quirkless again, but still very physically fit. With his prosthetics on he’s totally able to lift his husband like a sack of potatoes when he’s being stubborn and kick his apprentice’s butt in sparring.
-Mei comes over for “tune ups” and coo over her babies, and Shouto keeps a careful eye on her that she doesn’t convince Izuku to agree to let her put lazers and actual missiles in them.
-”Come on, love, I need something now that I’m quirkless!”
-”Last week you threw your leg at a mugger and put him in a coma for a week. I’d say you’re doing just fine, sweetheart.”
-”If I had a knee canon or a taser hand I wouldn’t have to throw my leg, darling.”
-”….you get one, knee canon or taser hand, but not both. I won’t have my husband running around like the terminator.”
-Izuku and Mei grinning madly at each other because that was totally permission.
-Shouto would never actually be able to say no to anything that would make Izuku feel capable, but he worries and the long suffering husband role is one he’s used to after working with Deku’s brilliant (insane) plans for years.
-every kid in their neighborhood knows the retired hero Deku and loves him. He’s always game for running around giving piggy back rides and lets the kids cover his prosthetic arm and leg in stickers.
-he knows Mei doesn’t actually mind despite her complaining, because she brings rolls of stickers with her for him to give the kids. Plus, it gives her an excuse to look into that new chrome finish she was thinking about
-”Need a hand?”
-Shouto is so tired of being handed Izuku’s dismembered mechanical hand.
-it scared the shit out of him the first time but Izuku does it so often now that he just holds his hand out like “Fine, give it to me, do your joke, and for the love of god plug this thing back in before I hit you with it.”
-Dadku making awful dad jokes while Shouto looks into the camera like he’s on the Office. The 10th holder of One for All rolls their eyes but adores their adopted dads.
-Izuku only dislikes his prosthetic hand when he goes to touch Shouto’s hair and it gets caught in the joints.
-Shouto is the most supportive boyfriend in the world, and is there for him when he feels broken.
-going from number one hero to retired, quirkless, and sans two limbs was hard on Izuku. But, being him, he found other ways to be a hero and Shouto supported him every step of the way.
-Izuku lost his left hand, so he still has the scars from his fight with Shouto. Shouto will never admit it, but he’s grateful. Those scars are precious to them and their history.
-Izuku gets phantom limb pains, but it helps when Shouto uses his heat or ice to create sensation along the remaining part of his arm and leg. Shouto’s gotten very good at knowing his tells, and often comes out of nowhere to wrap a hand around the upper part of his husband’s arm and knead the muscle there.
-The cold makes him ache more than ever now, good thing Shouto is excellent at temperature control by now and always ready to keep his husband toasty warm.
-Izuku is self conscious about removing the prosthetics entirely. Disengaging the forearm from the elbow joint for a gag is one thing, but without them he feels vulnerable and incomplete. Shouto understands, but every now and then he asks him to take everything off and spends ample time kissing every scar and making him feel at home in his body again.
-Izuku dressed up at the Winter Soldier for Halloween. Shouto was the Black Widow. Needless to say their house was very popular for trick or treating.
-Mei built a small compartment into both limbs. The one on his leg holds useful things like a tiny notebook for jotting things down, wallet, phone charger, anything that doesn’t fit in his pockets.
-”Hollow leg” jokes.
-The one in his arm is smaller, he mostly keeps candy in that one.
-”Izuku, how long has this snickers bar been in your arm?”
-”It should still be good. If you want, I think I have a poptart in there too.”
